Attention all actors and talented people everywhere

We have created quite a buzz with all the recent press. I want to thank everyone for their responses, well wishes, and various offers to participate. We have had many inquiries about casting, working as extras, and questions about when we will begin shooting. I just want everyone to know that the project is moving forward, but we are very much in the pre-production phase. This means that there is no finished script as yet, and we are a least a year away (we hope) from doing any sort of casting, location scouting, or talent searching for the dramatic scenes we are planning. We hope all of you who have inquired will keep track of this site and especially this blog, because when the time comes, we will be posting the news here.

We hope to begin scheduling and shooting the various interviews with scholars and historians that will be used in the final film starting early next year, but his will depend on how fast we manage to raise funds. So, all of you who are eager to see this project happen, please spread the link to the website and get as many people interested as you can. This is one of the greatest things you can do at this moment. We are determined to make this project happen...the only variable will be the time it takes us to get there.

Two Grants Submitted

We have just finished work on two grants for the project. Wow, those are a lot of work! I took my laptop on vacation with me and spent most of the 26 hours worth of driving (during those times when my driving shift was over) typing treatments, and explanations, and bios, and budgets. Now I know why many people shy away from grant funding...the amount of info you need to gather is insane! All down time was spent with my laptop stuck to my fingers. I'm going to need another vacation to recover.

Anyhow, now we play the waiting game for those particular grants. It will likely be months before we hear anything, but everyone keep your fingers crossed. Again, if anyone following this blog knows of any source funding, please contact me.

August 2012

The project took a big step forward as the Wheeling National Area Heritage Corportation (WNHAC) agreed to be a fiscal sponsor. This means that we are now able to pursue grant funding that was not available to us before. While this is a major step towards advancing the project, now the real work begins. We have begun searching for various grant opportunities on both the federal and state level. If anyone knows of any grant organizations that likes to fund history or humanities projects, please let us know. We are likely going to need as many sources as we can get. Thanks!
